Credentials & Titles — Dr. Walter Zamarian Jr.
Every degree, title and registration — with the scanned documents and the official sources to verify them
Transparency is part of medical practice. On this page I publish my main titles, registrations and diplomas — with the scanned documents — and show how to verify each one independently, directly at the official sources. No credential here needs to be taken on my word: every one of them can be checked in minutes.
I am a plastic surgeon registered under CRM-PR 17.388 with RQE 15.688 — the Specialist Qualification Registration that, in Brazil, is what legally authorises a physician to practise and advertise as a specialist in Plastic Surgery.
How can you verify my credentials independently?
Three official sources confirm my registration and titles in minutes:
- CFM physician search (Brazilian Federal Council of Medicine) — search for CRM 17.388, Paraná: the result shows my active licence and the specialist registrations (RQE) in Plastic Surgery and General Surgery.
- Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery (SBCP) — use the "Find a surgeon" search with the name Walter Zamarian Junior to confirm membership.
- ASPS — Find a Surgeon — the official directory of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which lists international members.
Board Certification in Plastic Surgery — AMB and SBCP
Conferred by the Brazilian Medical Association (AMB) and the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery (SBCP) on November 18, 2003, upon approval in the national board examination held under the rules of both entities — the title exam that qualifies the specialist in Plastic Surgery in Brazil (the Brazilian equivalent of board certification).
Specialist Qualification Registration — RQE 15.688
The official registration of the Plastic Surgery specialty at the Regional Council of Medicine of Paraná (book 32, no. 15.688, Aug 4, 2008). This is the number that accompanies my name in all professional communication — RQE 15.688 — and that you can check yourself in the public CFM search.
Postgraduate Training in Plastic Surgery — Ivo Pitanguy Study Center
Certificate of the 42nd class of the postgraduate course in Plastic Surgery of the Ivo Pitanguy Study Center (Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro / Carlos Chagas Institute of Postgraduate Medical Studies), completed in December 2003 — signed by Prof. Ivo Pitanguy himself, whose student I had the privilege of being. The school that set the standard of Brazilian plastic surgery.
International Member — American Society of Plastic Surgeons
Elected an International Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) after meeting the society's eligibility requirements — the ASPS describes itself as the largest plastic surgery specialty organisation in the world. Membership can be confirmed in the public Find a Surgeon directory.
Specialist Registration in General Surgery — RQE 16.233
Before plastic surgery, I completed a medical residency in General Surgery at the University Hospital of Northern Paraná (UEL), accredited by the Brazilian Ministry of Education — a training registered at CRM-PR (book 33, no. 16.233). It is the surgical foundation on which the specialisation in plastic surgery was built.
Medical Degree — State University of Londrina
Diploma of Medical Doctor from the State University of Londrina (UEL), with the degree conferred on December 23, 1998 — the same university at whose University Hospital I went on to complete the residency in General Surgery.

What these documents guarantee — and what lives on other pages
The six documents above show my legal qualification and the formal milestones of my training: medical degree, postgraduate training at the Pitanguy school, board certification and the two specialist registrations at CRM-PR. My international deep plane training — with the surgeons I refer to as mentors in the United States — is described in detail on the Training & Mentors page.

Frequently asked questions about credentials
What is the RQE and why does it matter?
The RQE (Specialist Qualification Registration) is the official registration of a medical specialty at a Regional Council of Medicine in Brazil. Only a physician holding an RQE in Plastic Surgery may advertise as a plastic surgeon. Mine is RQE 15.688 (CRM-PR, 2008), verifiable in the public CFM search.
How do I check whether a surgeon is an SBCP member?
Through the official SBCP search. Go to cirurgiaplastica.org.br, find the "Find a surgeon" area and search by name. If a doctor does not appear in the Society's own search, he or she is not a member — regardless of what any marketing material says.
What does being an ASPS International Member mean?
It is the American Society of Plastic Surgeons category for qualified plastic surgeons based outside the United States. Election requires documented training and specialty certification in the surgeon's home country. Members are listed in the public Find a Surgeon directory.
