At a glance: what do the latest ISAPS figures say about Brazil?
In the ISAPS survey of procedures performed in 2025, published in September 2026, Brazil ranks first for aesthetic surgery, with an estimated 2,361,010 procedures, and second overall, behind the United States. These are estimates projected from plastic surgeons’ responses; they describe volume, not safety or what’s right for any one person.
- Aesthetic surgery in Brazil: 2,361,010 procedures in 2025, first among the surveyed countries.
- Total in Brazil: 3,216,665 surgical and non-surgical procedures; second place.
- Plastic surgeons: an estimated 6,497 in Brazil, second place.
- Most common in Brazil: liposuction, eyelid surgery, breast augmentation, breast lift and abdominoplasty.
- Face: eyelid surgery 244,937, facial fat grafting 124,742, facelift 116,296 and neck lift 106,551.
- Limits: the method changed between years, so comparisons need care.
My facial surgery page explains the procedures I perform. Here I look at what the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) figures can tell you about Brazil, and what they can’t.
Where the numbers come from
The ISAPS annual survey is answered by plastic surgeons; 2,900 took part for 2025. Each country’s totals are projected from that sample and the estimated number of practicing plastic surgeons, not counted procedure by procedure [1]. The 2025 report lists 51 locations separately, up from 32 the year before, and added new procedures to the questionnaire; ISAPS itself notes that this affects comparisons with earlier years [1].
Brazil and the world in 2025
Worldwide, ISAPS estimated 17,883,610 surgical and 17,320,420 non-surgical procedures in 2025 [1]. The United States leads the overall total with 5,461,476 procedures, driven by non-surgical treatments. Brazil leads in surgery and is second overall [1].
| Indicator (2025) | Brazil | Rank |
|---|---|---|
| Surgical procedures | 2,361,010 | 1st |
| Non-surgical procedures | 855,655 | – |
| Total procedures | 3,216,665 | 2nd |
| Estimated plastic surgeons | 6,497 | 2nd |
In the previous survey, covering 2024, Brazil also led in surgery, with an estimated 2,354,513 procedures [2]. The difference between the two years is small and, given the change in method, shouldn’t be read as a trend.

| 3 | Breast augmentation | 222,847 | 9.4% |

What the numbers show about the face
Worldwide, eyelid surgery was the most common aesthetic operation in 2025, with 2,457,677 procedures [1]. In Brazil, face and head surgery totaled 908,281 procedures, including eyelid surgery (244,937), facial fat grafting (124,742), facelift (116,296), neck lift (106,551) and brow lift (80,563) [1].
These figures describe demand, not what suits a particular face. At a consultation, the question is clinical: is the concern the skin, deeper support, the eyelids, the neck or lost volume? My deep plane facelift page shows how I approach that assessment.
What statistics can’t tell you
A country’s volume says nothing about the safety of a particular surgeon or hospital. To choose, check the medical license (CRM) and specialty (RQE) in the Federal Council of Medicine’s official search, and ask where surgery takes place, who provides anesthesia and how follow-up works. The criteria are in how to choose a facelift surgeon in Brazil. My details: CRM-PR 17.388, RQE 15.688, member of the SBCP and International Member of the ASPS.
